Peterborough gig was a seated gig which I'm not crazy about but this one was flying, The Audience were up dancing in the Aisles from the 3rd number in! Big Boy Bloater was opening the show for us again and proved once more that his band are the best R'n'B Band in the UK today, my favourite part of the evening though was a very cool "Drum off" between Steve Rushton and Mark Morgan, They sounded fantastic together swapping chops man! what the punters don't see eh?

I think Daves face has slid?/slod?/sladden?/slidden? off.
Wowzers how great was our Leamington gig!?! My favourite so far! such a fantastic response from the crowd right from the start, was even more special for me because I had family there, and some "Rockin" faces I haven't seen for years. It has to be said that the green room in the Assembly in Leamington is like no other I have ever seen, It has Tammy Wynettes Caravan/motor home in it! how? I don't know, Why? I have even less a clue.I left my camera at home that day so I'll try and pilfer some of Daves pics as It really has to be seen to be believed..

Gloucester Guild Hall last night was maybe one of the hottest gigs we've had, Gig was fantastic, The Bonneville Barons were supporting and they were great - here I am pictured with the great Double Bass player Yann, always a pleasure to see these guys.
Also pictured with one of the nuttiest people to ever come and see us, I think his name was Warren and he went for it in a big way, I had to get a snap of him and I hope he sees this!

Had a fantastic gig in Tunbridge Wells and it was great to catch up with Bloater, L'il Lisa, Nick Drugstore and the brilliant but accident prone Mark "Crazy legs" Morgan, They played such a great rockin Blues set that had the crowd from the start - If you aint seen em yet - get off your arses!

Imelda May - Psycho (Official)

Just had a couple of days in London rehearsing with Jeff Beck for our New York gigs and it sounds great! Really looking forward to these gigs....and the Buffallo wings.
Imeldas single got played on Radcliffe and Maconie which had a great response, take a look at our new posh video - If you look closely there are a couple of shots of Alfie in there (Alfie is Imeldas dog) Also at the end of the Vid the director was screaming direction through the PA so we could here him over the track, the last thing we heard him scream was "ON YOUR KNEES TRUMPET BOY!!" This is something I can only imagine Dave hasn't heard since his University days!
Off to Sunny.......Tunbridge Wells today to play the Assembly Theatre, Looking forward to catching up with Big Boy Bloater and his chums who are on with us - a few scoops are in order me thinks.

Imelda May - Proud and Humble

This is Imelda in Helsinki, great gig, forward to 4 min 30 and listen to those beautiful backing vocals!
Great! Home now, I pick up my poorly pc tomorrow from the menders so i should be able to sign in and add pics to my Blog, you never know - I might even begin to write something interesting......Anyhoo Copenhagen was great ( I think ) We then moved on to Helsinki where we stayed for a couple of days, great place, great food, great crowd although someone did stop and point at me and shout "M.C Hammer" I have no idea why, Do I look like him?!?
Imelda has now decided on the Album cover (which looks great) and we we've been informed that Radcliffe and Maconie will be playing Imeldas' forthcoming single on their show Monday 17th ( which sounds great ).
Back to London on Tuesday to start the Jeff Beck rehearsals and then straight into our small but perfectly formed UK mini tour - Nice!

Monday, 10 May 2010

O.k, so where do I begin? I'm sending this via Skype until I get this bloody PC fixed!
Since my last Blog entry things have been pretty bloomin busy. As we arrived back in the UK we went straight into rehearsals with American Rockabilly Queen Wanda Jackson. Unfortunately Steve got held up in Amsterdam because of the Volcanic belch from Iceland so "Bomber" Wade lent us his drum skills for the first Wanda gig - Two sellout shows at the Luminaire in London! Fantastic time had by all, Wanda was on top form and bonded with Imelda straight away although I think it had more to do with Imelda's replica "Wanda" dress that she wore more than anything else (which was made by the way by my lovely other half Saff - plug, plug! ). Had a great few days of Family time after that, few sessions in New Inns with Little John and the Deanster and a couple of gigs with Bluesman James O'Hara - Fabby, All whilst Imelda slaved away trying to get the final mixes of the new Album! Then onto Pinewood Studios to film the Videos for the first two singles "Psycho" and "Mayhem" oooh get me! We had a great but gruelling couple of days there and thats all I'll say about it as the Vids are pretty cool and I don't want to leave any spoilers.
Caught up with Burlesque Starlette 'Missy Malone' at our Cheltenham Jazz Festival gig where she got mistaken for Imelda and was almost ushered onto the stage - that would have been an entirely different show altogether. We then started our Europe tour but not before Little John and I hightailed it to London for an Iggy and the Stooges gig, possibly the best Gig I've ever witnessed - certainly the loudest. I lasted the first three numbers in the mosh pit, then thought my heart was going to explode so I moved to the side where I found several pints of Murphys calmed me down. Straight to Amsterdam with no sleep! ROCK ,N, ROLL!!!!!. Played the Milky Way alongside Flight of the Conchords, we went down a storm and got a Guitar nicked (luckily it was Dave's). A day off in Amsterdam took me to the Famous Paradiso Club where I saw the Palladins perform, bumped into Nick Drugstore- Bass player for Mike Sanchez -who had flown in to watch the show, was good to see him. I don't know whether it was fatigue or what but I couldn't really get into the gig, maybe I was still reeling after the Stooges. We played a couple of gigs in Holland (can't remember the names of 'em offhand) and tore the place up, the hottest gigs I think we've had, we did a hit and run gig in Berlin at a bloody awful Rock 'n' Roll gig - we went down a storm though, so not all bad. Then to Copenhagen which is where I am sitting writing this.....right now.
